Cherche RADIUMINEUSE
Cherche RADIUMINEUSE is a photographic investigation into a little-known chapter of Swiss industrial history: the lives and legacy of the women known as the “Radiumineuses.”
From the early 1920s to the late 1960s, hundreds of women applied radium-based luminescent paint to watch dials and hands, allowing them to glow in the dark. Repeating the same precise gestures day after day – often without protection, in factories or at home – they were exposed to serious and irreversible health risks. Many paid with their bodies, and sometimes those of their loved ones, for the success of an industry still regarded today as a symbol of Swiss excellence.
Blending investigation and tribute, Cherche RADIUMINEUSE challenges the historical silence surrounding these overlooked workers while affirming their role in the Swiss watchmaking industry. More broadly, it invites reflection on resilience, justice, and the recognition of those excluded from official narratives.

Ariella Azoulay – Seeing Genocide: Weaponization of Images
The essay by Ariella Aïsha Azoulay examines the relationship between images, genocidal violence, and the mechanisms through which it is legitimized. The author challenges the idea of photography as neutral testimony and shows how images can serve not only to document suffering, but also to normalize it, obscure it, or politically justify it. In the text, she connects contemporary images from Gaza with the long history of settler-colonial violence against populations and asks what remains outside the frame of the visible.

Rather than seeing photography as a definitive record, she approaches it as a process: a mutable organism capable of changing its form, material, and meaning.
