Tereza Zelenková – Essential Solitude

5. 12. 2023

Tereza Zelenková is fascinated by timelessness, dust, archetypal objects unchanged for centuries or, on the contrary, purely contemporary ones, traces of the presence of someone we can be fascinated or even disgusted by. Crumpled fabrics welcome us into their textures as much as they repel us. From Teresa's photographs, it is as if we can perceive the smell or scents of the scenes she captured in some quaint London flat. A subtly sweet humidity permeated with dust occupies our perception along with the mesmerising images. The stiffness permeating many of the images unsettles us. Something of the past emerges as the passage of time is not terminated but bleeds into the present day. The notion of finality dissolves and only timelessness remains, along with the essential solitude presented by the artist.
