Mariusz Forecki – Kurz / Ewolucja imperium 1988-2022 (Dust / The Evolution of the Empire)

The publication responds to the invasion of Ukraine by the army of the Russian Federation. To all its illegality, baseness, and horrifying cruelty but also to the desperate inability of the citizens of the largest state in the world to resist the arbitrariness of the holders of power there. Translated, the first part of the book's title would be Dust. Mariusz Forecki (b. 1962) began collecting his observations during the agony of the Soviet Union. He summarizes: "Out of the dust of collapse emerged the contours of a new empire, which, through massive propaganda and social engineering, turned into a realm of evil, threatening the world of humanism with its claims to freedom and happiness." The jury of the Central European House of Photography Book Biennial in Bratislava awarded the 356-page volume the main prize in the category of contemporary works.
