Denisa Půbalová – Playground for Soft Measures

Rather than approaching monitoring as a technical process, the workshop understands perception as a collective practice of attunement. Softness becomes a method of inquiry: one that does not fix meaning, but allows subtle traces, impressions, rhythms, and shifts in texture, taste, smell, and moisture to emerge. Through playful exercises, material experiments, and collective reflection, participants will create informal maps, scores, and records of their encounters with materials.

The workshop grows out of the long-term artistic research practice of the duo sikau/půbalová, whose work focuses on multisensory perception, microbial relationships, and the question of how environmental change might be tasted, smelled, and touched. The programme encourages a slow, shared cultivation of sensitivity towards what so often goes unnoticed.

BIO

Denisa Půbalová is an artist, researcher, and creative coder, working within the artistic duo sikau/půbalová. Her process-based work develops multisensory methods of attunement to socio-ecological incommensurability, including human-fungi-technology entanglements, diatom-climate archives, and gut-soil microbiomes. Situated at the intersection of posthuman philosophy, environmental humanities, speculative fiction, and collaborative fieldwork, she creates installations, publications and participatory tools that invite bodily, material and more-than-human forms of knowing.
