Šárka Zahálková – By Means of Exchange Goods and Services

Welcome to the waves of a capitalized landscape. Holešovice Market, originally a slaughterhouse, has for many years served primarily as a site of trade in diverse goods. It is a place where goods, services, contacts, ideas, and emotions are exchanged.
The audio walk by Šárka Zahálková will guide you through the site in a different rhythm, sharpen your attention, and offer an alternative reading of its spatiotemporal and semantic relationships. The walk invites a more sensitive perception of the relationships between human and non-human beings and the place itself. Please bring your own mobile phone with a data connection and headphones compatible with your device. The walk will take place at a calm pace and along an easy, accessible route.
BIO
Šárka Zahálková is an artist, curator, cultural manager, and activist. Her work is driven by a long-standing interest in art as a tool for social change, art in public space, acoustic ecology, and collective, non-hierarchical collaboration across disciplines. She is particularly engaged with the social and environmental turn in the arts. Walking, listening, and a conscious, sensitive engagement with place—together with interactions with communities, artists, architects, and theorists—form the foundation of her artistic and curatorial practice. In her own work, she moves fluidly between drawing, time-based media, installations, sound art, and community-oriented participatory projects. She holds a PhD from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. www.160cm.me
