2026 Fotograf Magazine Open Call

Talents wanted!
We are looking for new talents! Fotograf Magazine issues an open call for professionals, amateurs and students who are invited to submit their photo projects. We are interested in artworks (fine-art photography / moving image) representing a distinctly defined project of an independent and non-commercial character.
We appreciate all genres and the most diverse approaches of artistic creation, because one of goals of “Fotograf – contemporary photography zone” is to discover talents. We are looking for talents of any age. Talents wanted. Let’s sign in!
Two selected projects will be published in the next printed issue of the Fotograf magazine. Fotograf magazine is one of the leading global magazines devoted to photography and contemporary art. The winners will be chosen by the jury whose members including professionals and experts on contemporary visual art.
The deadline for the submissions is April 30, 2026.
Early bird at reduced price are welcome till March 15, 2026.

- Project description + images (description maximum 1 500 characters, all in one file .pdf, max 10 MB)
- Any e-mail attachments must be properly identified (Surname_Name + CV / Portfolio / Project)

- The number of projects submitted by one author is not limited
- The participation fee per project is 35 € (Early birds: 28 €)

Jury 2026
Felix Hoffmann

Felix Hoffmann is a visual and cultural theorist, curator, and Artistic Director of FOTO ARSENAL WIEN, the Center for Photography and Lens-Based Media, as well as Director of FOTO WIEN, Austria’s biennial festival of photography, and Vienna Digital Cultures. Previously, he worked at the C/O Berlin Foundation, where he played a key role in shaping its exhibition programme, public activities, and long-term institutional strategy. He has curated numerous international exhibitions, including Nan Goldin, Robert Mapplethorpe and Peter Lindbergh, Gordon Parks, Elfie Semotan, Mari Katayama, as well as major group exhibitions, and has published numerous books and texts.
Markéta Kinterová

Markéta Kinterová is an art director, artist and educator working with photography and contemporary visual culture. Since 2016, she has been the head of the Studio of Documentary Strategies at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU). She is the editor-in-chief of Fotograf Magazine and director of Fotograf Zone, a platform encompassing a gallery, festival, and publishing activities. Her research-based practice focuses on critical readings of public space, authorship, and socially engaged photography.
Michaela Nagyidaiová

Michaela Nagyidaiová is a Slovak visual artist living in Vienna. Her practice explores landscape, memory, and spatial transformation in Central and Eastern Europe, with a focus on migration and questions of belonging. In 2023, she was part of FUTURES, a European platform supporting emerging talents in photography. Through long-term, research-based projects, she examines how ideology and politics shape everyday life, family histories, and local environments.
Marta Szymańska

Marta Szymańska is a Polish photography curator. Since 2004 she has been involved in developing Fotofestiwal – International Festival of Photography in Łódź, where she is responsible for the programme. She was vice-director of the Archeology of Photography Foundation (2014–2019) and collaborates with Sputnik Photos Collective. She also works as an independent curator, portfolio reviewer, and supports artists in developing their projects. Her curatorial focus includes activist and socially engaged practices and photography from Central and Eastern Europe.
Peter Watkins

Peter Watkins is an artist, educator, and writer originally from the United Kingdom, based in Prague. His autobiographical practice starts in photography and examines personal and collective trauma, loss, and memory. He approaches photography expansively, working through spatial, sculptural, and moving-image installations. Alongside this, he develops socially engaged projects, including Postcards for Palestine, which addresses solidarity, visibility, and collective political and social resistance through image-making. He graduated from the University of Westminster (2008) and the Royal College of Art (2014). He is a lecturer in photography at FAMU, Prague.
