Fotograf Zone Gallery is launching an open call for a free-theme exhibition project for its gallery windows, open to students, emerging artists, and amateurs. For us, the open call is not only a competition, but also a space for sharing, discovering new voices, and building connections across the art scene.
We are pleased to announce the results of the Fotograf Zone Gallery Open Call 2025, reviewed by an international jury of professionals:

We truly appreciate everyone who applied. The quality, variety, and international range of the submitted projects were inspiring, and the selection was not easy. Some of the projects that were not chosen may still lead to future collaboration. Thank you to everyone who took part.
The winner of the Fotograf Zone Gallery Open Call 2025 is Chaeyeon Kang with the project 28 Days. The selected project will be presented in the window of Fotograf Zone Gallery in spring 2026.
28 Days
Chaeyeon Kang
Chaeyeon Kang is exploring the fragile intersection of body, memory, and digital-physical hybridity. Working across printmaking, and experimental media, she investigates cycles of vulnerability and resilience through her own female bodily experiences and mixes with virtual female bodies. Based in Seoul and London.
28 Days is a project that explores the cycles of the female body and the subtle balance
between growth and decay, exposure and concealment, vulnerability and resilience.
The work comes from my own experience with recurring yeast infections. These are
medically common but often silenced culturally, connected to discomfort and shame.
Rather than seeing them as something to hide or fix, I approached these experiences
as part of the body’s natural system, constantly adjusting to hormones, microbes, and
emotional states.

How to Look at the World: Václav Kopecký and Milan Mazúr Open New Exhibitions at Fotograf Zone Gallery
Photography as a guide to understanding today’s world and video art as a form of storytelling with a social dimension — these two approaches will meet on 20 November at Fotograf Zone Gallery in Prague, which will open two new exhibitions at once. In collaboration with Fotograf Contemporary, the gallery will present Whole World Catalog, a solo exhibition by photographer Václav Kopecký. In the second part of the gallery, visitors will see Eva, a new video project by director Milan Mazúr, shown publicly for the very first time.

FOTOGRAF ZONE FESTIVAL 2025 – TALK TOGETHER
The fifteenth edition of the international Festival Fotograf Zone, titled Talk Together, focuses on language and interpersonal communication in its many forms. This year’s festival will be presented in a condensed ten-day format, running from 3 to 12 October 2025, and will offer audiences new perspectives on how language shapes our relationships, understanding, and conflicts.

False Friends
Language shapes our world, influences our thoughts, and reflects our societies. In the context of the Balkans, specifically the former Yugoslavia, a region marked by shared histories and divergent narratives, language can both include and exclude. Through the concept of “false friends”, words that appear similar but differ in meaning, this exhibition explores how identity, politics, and cultural memory echo in the language we use, and vice versa. Simply put, we often speak of what we believe are the same notions, not realising we understand them differently. These deceptively familiar terms thus become symbols of regional complexities, miscommunication, and broader cultural and historical tensions.

Ties That Bind
The exhibition emerges from an international open call within the European platform FUTURES Photography and is the result of a collaboration among Bienal Fotografia do Porto, Fotogalleriet, Fotograf Zone, and Organ Vida Festival, which jointly curated the 2024 selection.
