Tales They Don’t Tell You, 2024

Dev Dhunsi draws inspiration from Hindu texts in which time flows cyclically and the gods Mitra and Varuna embody the transformations of the moon. He interweaves these mythic images with his own search for a missing friend and with the river running through his native Trondheim, the river becoming a vessel for memory and tragedy. The installation combines video with textiles that shift and fade, echoing the current of water. Woven images suggest metaphors of transience and rebirth. Dhunsi creates a queer cosmology in which humans, gods, rivers, and stones share a single pulsating ecosystem. The work becomes a space where personal grief meets myth, and where water functions as a medium of memory, intimacy, and death. Tales They Don’t Tell You invites us to perceive the world as an interconnected web of beings and stories.

Co-funded by the Creative Europe program of the European Union, FUTURES is a platform to increase the capacity, mobility and visibility of it's selected artists and to bridge the gap between emerging and established artists.
