Wow! A real treasure, 2025

In Mummy Eye, Donja Nasseri explores methods of reanimating objects tied to colonial history and hidden away in storage. Enlarged and transformed into ceramics, metal, or watercolor, they become carriers of new discourse. Nasseri draws attention to the power of the gaze—as the author she determines how large these objects will be and how much attention viewers will give them. The exhibited ceramic ropes with arrow motifs and engraved metal frames are not only aesthetic artifacts but also raise questions of who shapes history and what remains concealed. Her two works, Mummy Eye and Wow! A Real Treasure, destabilize the line between authentic and reproduced and propose understanding the archive as a living organism, in which polyphonic narratives can be reopened.

Co-funded by the Creative Europe program of the European Union, FUTURES is a platform to increase the capacity, mobility and visibility of it's selected artists and to bridge the gap between emerging and established artists.
