MNRT – Welcome, Interdisciplinary Look On The Migrant Crisis

9. 5. 2023

Questions connected to migration are often difficult. In 2021, the migrant crisis at the Belarusian-Polish border escalated, prompting the question: how could such a catastrophe happen in Europe, so close to us? The situation hasn’t still been resolved, but it did lead to the creation of the book Welcome, whose authors are an international collective of artists and academics based in Poland. The book is a collection of not only texts, but also images. Among the authors we will find, for example, theorists Dorota Masłowska, Kholoud Charaf, artists Karolina Gembara, or Omar Marques. The book’s last-year launch was accompanied by the exhibition (un)WELCOME, held in Krakow’s Galerie ASP. It also has to be said that the entire proceedings from the book go to the Fandacja Ocalenia, which actively helps at the said border.
