Fotograf Zone Gallery Open Call

Gallery Window as an Exhibition Space
Fotograf Zone Gallery invites submissions for an open call featuring an exhibition project with no thematic restrictions, to be displayed in its windows. The opportunity is open to students, emerging artists, and amateurs.
The selected project will be exhibited in the display window of Fotograf Zone Gallery in January 2026 (Jungmannova 19/7, Prague 1). The exhibition space consists of two windows (179 × 219 cm and 179 × 323 cm) with a windowsill 140 cm wide. We welcome photography, moving images, and other media.The selected artist will receive an honorarium and production costs amounting to 10,000 CZK and 5,000 CZK. Installation will take place with the production assistance of the gallery team.
The deadline for the submissions is December 1, 2025.
Jury
Nadia Markiewicz

Visual artist, author of performances, installations and videos based in Warsaw, Poland. PhD fellow at the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Resident of the International Studio & Curatorial Program in New York City (2023). Winner of the Europe Beyond Access award granted by Zachęta National Gallery of Art and the British Council (2021) and the Grand Prix of the 10th Rybie Oko Young Art Biennial (2022) at the Baltic Gallery of Contemporary Art in Słupsk. Her works have been shown, among others, at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, Zachęta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw, Kunsthalle Bratislava, Kunsthalle im Lipsiusbau of SKD, Dresden.
Vít Havránek

Art historian and curator with a focus on the history of post-war artistic neo-avant-gardes, contemporary art, and critical studies. Since 2019, he has been working at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (AVU) as Vice-Rector and Head of the Department of Art Theory and History. From 2002 to 2019, he served as the Director of tranzit.cz, a platform that is part of a network of organizations active across five countries in Central and Eastern Europe. He has been an external editor for JRP Ringier Publishing and has curated and co-curated exhibitions of various scales on different continents, including Matter of Art, Prague, U3 Triennial, Ljubljana, Jakarta Biennale 2017, Manifesta 8, and Monument to Transformation.

Fotograf Zone Gallery explores the role of photography in the post-media context of contemporary art, emphasizing broader photographic thinking that may not necessarily manifest as a photographic artifact but as a way of viewing and interpreting reality, or as a basis for conceptual and contextual operations, where photography is treated as a specific carrier of visual information.
