It seems that crises have become an unconditional part of the everyday experience of the twenty-first century. In various strategic development manuals of local and transnational importance, we therefore regularly encounter the term resilience as a response to our problem. Prompted by this, Czech philosopher Alice Koubová, together with Barbora Baronová, decided to conduct a survey on societal resilience at the intersection of academic research, citizen science, and public discussion. Based on fourteen interviews with participants from the Czech public sphere, they came to several findings. I will mention one that I consider crucial: “The ability to navigate unexpectedly adverse situations relies much less than we might believe on regulations, laws, directives, and other documents, and much more on something softer, such as our mental attitudes and concrete physical relational actions with other people.” But do we find sufficient understanding and support in each other?
