The third volume of Průvodce neklidným územím focuses on photography after modern Czech art and architecture. It introduces the reader to the work and lives of more than sixty of the most important artists, and charts the development of photography in our country from the mid-19th century to the present day. In addition to countless photographic reproductions, the book is impeccably complemented by Lucie Št'astná's comics stories throughout the text. One cannot but agree with Pavel Vančát in his assertion that this is a praiseworthy attempt to present the history of photography in the most popular form, which can also encourage younger readers to read more and visit galleries and museums.

This edition departs from our series of thematic issues, as it is a celebration of the magazine’s twentieth birthday. As is usually the case with birthday celebrations (particularly such important ones), memories of the past intersect with the future. This is why this issue is dedicated to our activities and a summary of them, along with talents we believe in. In place of allotting the second part of the magazine to theory and current news, as in other issues, we decided to create a special edition on a topic that we have been discussing for years – now, the time has finally come to open it, grasp it fully, and thus change the art market in the Czech Republic. The first issue of the Fotograf magazine included a survey that asked leading Czech theorists and curators about how established the medium of photography is on the contemporary art scene and what they believe could threaten it. Twenty years later, the editorial staff decided to return to the survey format once again, this time with the aim of mapping how photography has fared in both public and private collection institutions both in the Czech Republic and internationally in the past few decades, and what we can expect in the future.
