Artists Šejla Kamerić and Aleksandra Vajd presented their collaborative work, Erotic Revue, for the first time in the form of an object at this year’s collective exhibition Darker, Lighter, Puffy, Flat. The work took the form of a glossy magazine, resembling fashion periodicals, and was presented as part of a sculpture, a pedestal through which winds a metal rod, emerging and weaving through the perforated copies. The publication, Erotic Revue, will be distributed
anonymously, without the names of the two artists and main protagonists, thus taking inspiration from the well-known, then publicly inaccessible interwar avant-garde work Erotic Revue. The magazine format implies a way of reading for leisure and relaxation and shifts the theme to digital intimacy. It conveys moments of tension, closeness, and eroticism of both artists, occasionally a man. We observe their bodies from their own perspectives, from the viewpoint of the other, and from a third-person point of view. Glimpses of the erotic act, and of the act of photography itself.
